My wife and I are really interested in obtaining our cdl through jim palmer. Our plan is to drive team and gain a few years experience. My question is will they split us up at any point? If so, will it only be during the several week training period after completion of getting our cdl???

She was very helpful when I was considering them. And although I didn't chose them in the end I will be considering them after I get some experience and can roll right into a new truck and skip training.
She said you train in Missoula Montana if you wanna do west coast lanes. Springfield Missouri for easy coast lanes. O&Smith is their all 48 company.LilRedRidingHood Thanks this. -

Talk to a Jim Palmer recruiter and ask about the training. Maybe you can get trained first, then be the trainer for your wife.firemedic2816 Thanks this.

You can trust the recruiters at Jim Palmer to tell you the truth. My guess is husband and wife would be split up during the ride with a trainer period between getting their CDL and before being assigned their own truck. I think Jim Palmer measures that period in miles, not weeks and month. IIRC, after CDL school the new student rides/teams with a trainer for 40,000 miles assuming normal student progress, no breaks, trainer approval. Their process is similar to the Prime process. There is a ton of info & details on the Prime process. Prime calls the school portion PSD (Prime Studnet Driver) and the portion OTR with a trainer is called TNT. I think TNT is typically 40k miles.

When you get your CDL you are credited with 10,000 miles so actually only have to drive 30,000 HOWEVER that is TRUCK not just you. When you get your CDL you run team with your trainer and once the TRUCK has gone 30,000 miles you go back to the terminal they give you a simple road test then assign you a truck. The Terminal you test out in really depends on where YOUR truck will be at. Either Missoula or Springfield. Jim Palmer just got Couple T680s in HOWEVER don't know if those will be for company or LTO. You will then either get a Freightshaker Cascadia or a PETELilRedRidingHood, tscottme and UsualSuspect Thank this.
