I am going monday for my cdl driving test. I have a couple questions. First i just wanna see if anyone on here has any tips or pointers for me. Second , im a little fuzzy on how the air brake test will work in a automatic. Unlike a manual , a automatic cannot be put into gear to keep it from rolling. Im famialr with all the steps in the airbrake test, just unsure about how to keep the truck from rolling during the test or do i just keep it in neutral and park on level ground???

please tell me what your SMDH about?

I have to assume they mean putting it in gear and shutting it down.TequilaSunrise Thanks this.

I usually put a manual in gear to get it to roll.

yes, this is during the brake check, engine off. That is exactly how i was told to do it. But we did not cover how to do it in a automatic trans mission. And if you go to Apex CDl training video on youtube its the same. During brake check , engine is off and put Into gear to keep it from rolling. i really dont care as i have no need to drive a manual for the job im going for. Only concerned about the proper way to check an automatic
