Hello Users
I need your help. I am doing some research about Car carrier business and I am looking for statistical information. How many Car carriers are in the US. How many car carrier drivers (if such info exists at least rough number) How many owner operators in car carriers. I see small pick up truck drivers are hard to calculate, but at least if I know the number of regular 7,8,9 car trailers that are in operation would be awesome
thank you in advance

There may be some investor info to be found via the few major carriers such as United Road, USAL, Jack Cooper, Cassens etc. But even if one were to sift through all of the MCS150 data, you would not find an answer. All of the part time pick ups, flat beds, & box vans in addition to the actual full time car carriers would have marked motor vehicles on that form. So given the current rates, there are too many. Which is the answer you were given.Terry270 Thanks this. -
According to the DOT there are more than 38,000 companies specifically registered as auto transporters.
