2012 Cascadia. If the power switch is not shut off when engine is shutdown it will randomly start cranking the motor for a few seconds and then stop for some minutes and then try again. It has burned up the small solenoid on the top of the starter. We have replaced the relay in the glove box and it went for a couple of days without doing it but has begun again. We bought a cable tracker but in reading the directions not sure we can use it without unhooking a bunch of connectors from the sam cab, anyone have experience using one of these to track down shorts or ?
Tries to start when shut off

Water intrusion into the Sam Cab module will cause this...they incorporated a plastic sheet over the top of it to prevent water from a leaking windshield seal to collect in the module. This scenario has also caused some "thermal events" on unoccupied trucks.

thermal events !!!!!!!!!!! liked it !!!!magoo68 Thanks this.

Do you know if the plastic sheet is available as an add on for the earlier models?
-
I would hazard to guess that anything that can deflect water off the unit will work.

They will fit, help and are more like an upside down bowl.

I have a similar problem with my 1996 freighliner fld 120 it keeps attempting to start on its own .... should I look for the same solution the Sam cab module?
