What is the new tool that volvo uses to replace injector cups? I will need them replaced and I want to make sure my mechanic replaces it correctly with the right tool. Also is it possible to rent that tool from volvo? I would really appreciate it if you would let me know. Thanks!

@medo1781 the tool kit is pricey at 3k.

I had the cups done 3 times. You get a One year 100k mile warranty from the dealership. Will your mechanic give you the same warranty? If he doesn't have the proper tools or experience why are you trusting him? To much of a risk to possibly saving a little money if you are doing cups within a year.

Yeah you're gonna need to see the Volvo dealer on that updated tool for the cups.

Prob better to just have them install the cups but idk..the price of the updated tool is probably crazy

Re Torque or replace the injector bolts. Follow the torque specs, You can get the specs from Volvo support.

Extra coating and different procedure to install is BS, I checked with Volvo, there is only 2 type of caps copper and stainless steel. I went and simply re torque my injector bolts and that dod it for me. Dealers hate me !!!!

You mean you can just tighten injector bolts to specs without replacing cups and it will work?

    Correct.
Brass (not copper) -OR- Stainless are the only two cup designs in D13.

Also, two different injector designs for correspondingly cups are not interchangeable.

If a part isn't installed correctly, it's a gamble. Volvo didn't decide to update the tool , cups and procedures simply because they were bored. ....

Note: if a hold down is the problem , that's NOT a injector cup.

It's possible KKV got lucky. Would like to hear Nasriza or Ben to chime in

It makes sense that it worked for him, i believe if you change the bolt that holds the injector in place and tighten it to specs it should work, but no way to know for sure unless someone tries it
