    Hi all. Thinking of going Werner. The blue screw. So just wondering if there is anyone currently driving for them and what it's like? I had heard they changed some things last year for the better. I mean they have to be a better choice than Swift. Thanks.

    I've noticed a lot of their company trucks have tripacs now, that's a + over many of the other starting companies...

    Agree; dry van division + a Tripac on the truck might be ok. Seems Werner has had some new management and things are looking up.

    I've got no gripe with Werner, but bear in mind they're my first (and last mega) and i can only compare it to what I read of other folks experience. The perks, the thing that I hear everybody thing off about from Swift, CRE, Knight, PTL, etc is that there are no driver facing cameras, they don't plan your fuel points but give you a fuel book (they offer suggestions... For example my Nav directions said Loves Dandridge, TN x412 on i-40.... Well, I have enough fuel to get to Jackson, TN x87 on i-40... That's what I'm doing instead). They offer you the practical routing, but aren't going to crucify you if you go out of route - I do it all the time in PA, I'm not messing with some of those short, quick grades, especially in the winter time.
    I can't speak to the point on APU's, I've been under the impression that they were reserved for the Million Milers.
    One thing I don't care for, but it's happening is that the fleet is going 80%+ automatic trans over this year. Werner just bought a bunch of dark blue Volvos, they're investing in new trailers (selling of those that are baby blue), and I've even seen a few pups in the upper Midwest.

    The key to any good running is to exemplify you're a good driver and can do the job / make the drop. Hashing this ability will put you in good with your FM, and he'll feed you miles. What this means is run your clock, take 10, run it again - that may mean you start at 0300 one day, 0100 the next. I went thru 3 FM's in the first 5 months (no fault of my own) and didn't land a single trip over 1000 miles. With my new(est) FM I've had probably 10, and i just finished one (NH-AR) to begin another one this morning (AR-NY).

    If you're the type of person that keeps your nose to the grind, communicates your needs to your FM (but isn't overly needy) and stays out of the Safety Office - you can do alright in acquiring your experience here.
    That's just a quick run thru from me.... Maybe @BostonTanker has something to add? He wasn't too jaded when he left to go home to work. Lol. How about it, Tanker?

    How long have you been with Werner?Do they still do a lot of swapping and splitting loads?

    The swap end of things isn't too bad - I've done maybe 4 in my time. Splits tho... Like 3 a week... It can be annoying, especially when you see that you have the time to carry it to its end point and be on time... but instead they take those 750 miles off you and give you something going 250 instead... it can be a drag.

    Yep all because that load gets a driver home,one of many things you have to put up with at a mega.
