...give up an OTR regional job driving a 2016 KW T680 but with erratic and unpredictable miles and pay, for a local job with with a mid 1990's Freightliner FLD but offering a steady, consistent, and predictable paycheck (overall money would be somewhat better as well) that would get you home every night and be off weekends?
I'd be paid a percentage of linehaul revenue and running an 8-10 hour shift from the same shipper to the same receiver everyday, Monday through Friday.
Ok drivers, would you...

I would pick the local since it would get me home every nite and more money. But if you dont like hometime then stay regional lol
-
To many things depend on what a driver wants. Do you want local? Or are you just dissatisfied with your current job?
-
That would depend on what you want .as far as the truck I wouldn't be concerned about the truck as much as how stable the company is.
-
Benefits?
I hate my local gig but has free insurance -
I sometimes like being out, but miles aren't consistent, and while I'm home weekly, I never know what day I'm leaving or returning. It makes it difficult to plan family time or events.
I was just wondering about the truck. I'd be going from state of the art to old school pretty drastically...lol -
Why compare the trucks unless you are forced to own one or the other? It's not like you're going to be sleeping in the Freightliner regularly.
-
Don't need them. My wife's plan is top notch and nobody can come close to matching it.
-
True.

Probably worth it then, if only the 8-10 hrs as stated. Truck not that big of deal, if it works everyday
