I would replace #4 with, "Will the truck run consistently and make me money?". I gave up listening to anything but the truck years ago.
If the owner of the older truck invests in regular maintenance that's a big plus. Obviously out of warranty, so he can use good mechanics that will give him great service, none of this, "We can work you into the schedule in a week".SingingWolf Thanks this. -
Ya know, me to. (The no music thing) all our box truck drivers, and even our van body line haul guy listen to the radio. I haven't listened to the radio in many years, for awhile i played streaming music (Pandora and such) but for more than a year i just dont bother, nither does our other flatbed driver... dont know why..mLepton1 Thanks this.

Listening to the truck has greatly improved my shifting and made me a better driver. I have heard issues like the faintest of tire "poof" and pulled over instead of destroying equipment.

If the pay was better then why do they have such an old trk?How much of a percentage is it?Approximately how much are your checks every week? Those are questions you need to be asking your boss. You tell me how much is the percentage and I'll tell you if you made the right choice. How much did this regional pay and how many miles a week was you getting?

Here is another thought..@ income tax time, your not gonna get as much if any back cause your not getting the prediem ...Here in canada its because of that tax break i get 3-5 g back every year...
Factor that into your decision to if it applys.. -
Older truck are better and cheaper to run..If given an option of a egr/def type truck rite off the lot or a well taken care of PRE egr/def type truck......Im goiing pre egr.....Weigh less, more reliable, better mpg without workin yer butt off for, cheaper to run, less heat and less $$ to run...RollingRecaps, Voyager1968 and Lepton1 Thank this. -
I know the rates, but choose not to disclose it. It's good though. As for the regional, it's been a struggle to get 2,000 miles.Lepton1 Thanks this.

The company I'm currently at pays per diem, so I can't claim it anyway.

If you like the income with the local gig AND the owner maintains the truck well, then that would be my choice.SingingWolf and Voyager1968 Thank this.
