[Q="Ridgeline, post: 5682322, member: 77050"]What is with people and the huge gap, really do they want to waste money making a fashion statement?

If I was going to look for something like this to be a show truck, well maybe, not into that type, a lot of other great looking trucks out there in my opinion but it to me is only worth $40k tops, nothing more.[/QUOTE]
I dont get the fashion statement either. I have a brother in law who thinks his $600 dollar belt is great. I think my Wal-Mart belt dose the same job. Everybody seems to have this thing with image. Yeah itnice to look good clean ect. But the end result is what? The fact is we are out here to make money. Fuel eeconomy is the game... spend $750000 on a 15 modle volvo freightliner or something that going to get yo 7mpg or better and be comfortable while your at it. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

I think the point everyone is missing is that if he wants the truck he should buy the truck, not let a bunch of people on the internet talk him out of it because it's not a truck they want. It's worth $75k to whomever wants the truck that bad. It's definitely not a finance company truck, you're going to need a relationship with your local bank.

The paint on the frame and tanks probably is new or touched up. I don't see a problem with that because with that much rail exposed any little bit of rust looks like crap. When I had my previous truck I'd paint my tanks and my frame from the sleeper back every year so it looked good. I'd also touch up the frame up front with rattle cans so it didn't look bad when I was at a truck show.

This truck isn't for everyone. It's not fun getting around with a long wheelbase even pulling a cattle trailer. Hauling livestock is a lot to do with image. Your trailer catches everyone's eye first so your truck better look good pulling it. Would I have a long hood long wheelbase truck if I was hauling general freight? Probably not. I would want something comfortable that made my life easier when I had to shut down for 10 hours. But when you've been running 1300 miles with another 200 to go and someone compliments your truck at the fuel Island it makes you feel good no matter how tired you are.

Take from some one who buys trucks, paint covers up a lot of things.

Correct. And I'm saying to not let a few people talk him out of it if it's the one he wants. I ask people's opinions a lot and still do what feels right to me.
