I want to know some good place to go to from Portland, OR. Not trying to steal contacts. Right now we are moving back and forth between CA. Rates are not the best, last week we went down to Santa Fe Springs, then Fontana, CA to Tacoma, WA, then picked up short run to home (portland). We got lucky on the short run was about to DH to portland, and got lucky on the rate down to santa fe springs so I'm thinking I won't be able to get it again.
So what I want to know is what are some good places to go into for decent rates? Any help, thanks. I can discuss rates if need be

I see this question pop up all the time. You do not get answers. If someone has a regular run, why would they tell anyone? Kinda like asking where is your wallet, I need some money. Especially from someone new. The other thing is that if you recommend someone, your reputation is also subject to scrutiny.

Profitable areas are not kept secret...for example it's no secret that Wisconsin is a profitable area for reefers running to PA, same with OH to PA on reefers. We get good money on those loads and that is no secret all you have to do is search on the load boards and take risk going there. Not trying to take anyone's lane (and if that happens you probably shouldnt be working with that customer/shipper/broker). I don't see a problem in telling someone that going to LA will make you good money, etc...

If told everybody where I get good paying stuff to haul I'm pretty sure it won't be there when I need it.

All have lanes that criss cross each other. Coils, steel, insulation, equipment. I heard from an owner op today that he's been running straight out of North Dakota to southern Ohio with oil field stuff. Flat, drop, double drop, RGN, and then taking coils out of that area back to North Dakota. Course he didn't discuss where, but he said there are so many loads coming out and so few trucks taking them that they will be busy for several months

This what I was looking for. Not asking to give out cities, or shippers that i can back solicit to. Just some hot spots for flats

Not sure how much help it is but in Rainier , Oregon and just across the bridge in Longview , Washington there is a ton of lumber places and a big sheetrock plant. May be worth asking around. Also System , Sherman Bros , and Osterkamp Trucking are all hauling outta there if ya can sub some loads or something. Good luck.
