Oh yeah. We got everything ready to go. Just need to find some work now and get the driver on board. I picked up my plates today.

I wish i could hit the road myself. Hopefully my dad gets better in a couple of months and doctors give him the green light.

37 bucks an hour.... that's almost my wage. I wouldn't even drive my pickup down the road for that! Get out of that situation fast before it ends up costing you money.

I am currently talking to a carrier that brokers some of their loads for Ottawa and Montreal, power only. As a back ip and fill it tobget started. Talks still going on.

So the next step is to get Loadlink, get registered with quality brokers and go on from there. Hopefully I wont have to deal with many brokers to keep busy.

In the beginning, deal with lots until you figure out who is worth their word and pays on time and who the jokers are. After a while, you can narrow your field once you have an established business history with the best ones. They are also looking for the best carriers to repeatedly offer the good loads to. It takes time to build that trust. They also want to know you will be around for the long haul so to speak, as in you are financially stable and are not always needing to factor your loads or get fuel advances, etc.

    Great Advice!

My father will start off by taking some loads himself. We will then start looking for good drivers. We still are in good contact with our previous drivers, some of whom have their own trucks and looking for work.

@gokiddogo . I did my written for AZ and got air brake done. My dad has over 10 years of driving experience. Can I sit with him in the truck and drive? Also, can I fill out a logbook?

That is a question for your insurance company. Don't do it before you ask them. If you get inspected while you are behind the wheel as an uninsured or unlicensed they will very likely cancel your policy.

I will check with them tomorrow. I doubt they will allow. Now finding work and driver will be a tough task. Hopefully my father can make a few trips and the find a driver...if not any suggestions?
