Yup, this is the main reason why insurance cost so much more start up owner ops. The insurance companies caught on to this behavior years ago now DOT is finally now.
How can a company have 2 USDOT numbers?

Here, we were operating under one, than switched to another. There was something about the company leasing the equipment to itself.
All that is above my pay grade. -
say if I have a dot number and mc also and a company name but I had a lease on driver that is no longer with me but while he was leased to me he had a wreck and payed the ticket instead of fighting the ticket and the wreck wasn't even his fault but the wreck made my insurance sky rocket and now I can't afford the insurance. what should I do can I still keep company name and just get new dot number or do I have to change company name and all?

They had 60 power units and drivers when I briefly leased onto them.. Two of the 3 weeks I worked for them still haven’t gotten paid.
They set up the 2nd company with hopes of cleaning up their act..however.. It’s not going so well. First inspection their truck was put oos!!Attached Files:
