Day one down. Lots of videos. Pretty boring but informative. Tomorrow get to do some driving and hands on training. Weather isnt to bad. I heard last group had to train in -5 degrees lol.

Cool, you're going to be hauling ethanol. I haul a lot of ethanol at my current job. You'll probably be certified out of a couple of loading racks then. You usually load this yourself and unload this yourself. It's interesting work. If you ever want to go local, this will land you a good gig hauling gasoline.

Yea I actually went through the hiring process with UPT hauling fuel a while back but they lost a bunch of contracts and it fell through. Now the local fuel haulers in my area require at minimum 1-2 years tank exp. So I'm going to be here a while learning the ropes.

Drove my first loaded smooth bore tanker yesterday during drive test. Lets say it was very interesting. I thought I had been hit in the rear by a car several times. I grinded them gears like I was a rookie all over again. Everything in a tanker is much slower! From shifting to starting out lol. Glad I'm pulling a baffled tank 95% of the time.

Ah yes.... Nothing like the smooth moves of a straight bore tanker. Unless you shift wrong, then it's like dancing with your fat aunt with 2 left feet.

    Cali kid Thanks this.

Talk about surge just loaded 4400 gal. In a 7700 gal tanker, and that is 48000 lbs.

    ChicagoJohn Thanks this.

For awhile I was hauling clay slurry to some of the paper mills here in Maine. I would take 4100 Gals. and would be grossing 97,000 lbs. easily. Stuff weighed at least 15 lbs per gallon.

I haul 94% sulphuric acid and its 15.5 or 15.6 pounds per gallon. 27,200kg's is ruffly 60,000 pounds or around 3900 gallons.
