A bounced check can be deposited three times. Unless your bank already did this(most will do just one try)you can try at a later date.
SHOULD I FILE A LIEN ON THIS POV?

Not sure what state the check was written out of ?
To start check the criminal law for the state the check was written in.
In my home state of ny it's a felony to bounce a check.
In ny you take the bounced check to the bank it was written on and they do what's called posting and that certifies that the check was written on lnsufficent funds.
You then take the check to law enforcement and they make an arest.
Usally after that you get a phone call asking you to drop the charges if they make good on the check and pay other charges incurred.
Been thru this many times in my business and have a 100% collection rate here in my home state. -
Last year I delivered to a dealer in Memphis, TN and got paid COD with a company check. It was my first delivery and was out on the road for three weeks. When I got home and deposited the check it bounced. After trying to contact the dealer and getting the voicemail for at least a week with no call back I called their bank and explained the situation and their response was... "go deposit the check right now because there is money in the account", thankfully I got my two grand. So my advise is call the their bank until you can confirm there is sufficient funds for the check to clear. This only works if you did not try to re-deposit multiple times.
Good luck.Last edited: Jan 20, 2017

I would try it.
I use to do this tactic years ago unfortunately about ten years ago in NY they enacted bank privacy policies and they can no nolonger comment on individuals accounts. -
I mailed her a notice of intent to claim a lien last week. This morning my bank alerted me that a deposit was make to the account. The threat of lien got her attention . Maryland has a program that provides restitution to businesses for a bounced check. It covers an amount no more that $ 2000 as long as you have the customers info as in their adresss and drivers license info. The state will provide restitution then send the collection agency after them. I was given the paperwork for this when i went to the district commissioner to file charges. This only applies to businesses not person to person. Thanks for your advice everybody and stay safe out there.

In having a problem with Perillo BMW in Chicago. Service rendered in November and it was at the customers request that they use my service. Emailed and faxed to Ken in sales and to accounting and left a copy of the invoice. Jackals hung up on me this last time I called. First time going through this with a dealer. Suggestions?
