Well, if you refuse to wear a seatbelt, you are certainly prone to this sort of thinking, according to some. You are a hardened criminal in the making.

On a serious note, I'm not for breaking any law, no matter how stupid the law appears to be. However; saying that someone is prone to lawbreaking because the don't wear a seatbelt is a bit ridiculous, IMNSHO.

I suppose there might be a state or two somewhere(Texas?) that may not have a mandatory seat belt law on the books. where? I don't know. but picking out west coast states as "Communist" is kind of silly. I drive 48 states. Ill. is as bad or worse than california, Iowa is as bad or worse than oregon. The part of the problem that everyone misses is fairly simple. Play the game and obey the law! If you don't you'll get a ticket no matter where you are. wearing a seatbelt is not that big a deal. Keeping your log current takes very little time and effort. setting your cruise to the speed limit is pretty easy, even for me. Yes , I live in Oregon. I've had a total of two overweight tickets in the last 24 years , my bills are paid and I'm not starving to death(215 lbs) so don't tell me it can't be done.

Now your putting words into the mix that was not used.. nobody suggested communism but what was said west cost supports socialism. very true comment with the majority having liberal views on that side of the country.(Far North east as well) Thats pretty much factual information... I seriously doubt that you shoot of a bottle rocket in IL or Iowa that your neighbor is going to come over and complain that your polluting. That happend to me living in Cali, that is the difference you will find on the west coast, liberals and promoting socialism.

Oregon State Troopers are not too bad, not as good as Washington but not too bad. The problem is the counties in the Portland metro area looking for a cash cow. Multnomah county deputies wander way east on I-84 looking for trucks to ticket. Gresham and Fairview city police do the same on I-84. Now Clackamas county is doing the same thing. All these forces have serious gang and crime problems in their jurisdictions. Criminals don't enhance revenue and do carry weapons. Motorists, especially truck drivers, enhance revenue and usually don't carry weapons.

This cash cow has gone dry and the goose has no more golden eggs.

I think ya'll are missing a huge point about seatbelts. Unless I missed a post talking about it, it is our responsibility to keep our trucks under control at all times. How can you do that if you are flying around the cab of your truck? Even in a minor collision it is extremely hard to keep your hands on the wheel and your butts in the seat. Like it or not, its part of our job to protect those around us. IMHO and its a very HO, I think that a good driver is one who is not all about ME ME ME but one who puts the lives of those around him first. I'm not saying that I condone the way they are doing things in my good ole home state lol, but I am a firm believer in wearing seatbelts and keeping my butt in the seat where it belongs.
