Headed to orientation for market transport in Portland , Oregon. Job is gonna be out of Puyallup , Washington doing local runs from what i gather. Anyone here working for them or used to ? Other than working nights it sounds decent and a 3000.00 sign on bonus.

Ya i saw they are DSV/ Market Transport. Figured it must be a fairly recent deal.

Market transport is also called DSV, UTI, and MTX. So they are a 300-400 truck company with at least three aliases now and offer a $3000 sign on. What could be wrong here?
They are primarily a contractor for Fred Meyer/Krogers. Fred Meyer drivers make a good union wage and from what I understand Market Transport treats their drivers like crap. Fred Meyers certainly treats them like crap.
However, I honestly don't know what it is like working for them, just what I have heard talking in the lumper line a Fred Meyer's Puyallup. I hate that place.Last edited: Jan 21, 2017

DSV also bought Sammons. Without knowing anything about them, I am weary of them just because of the name. Idk why but it just strikes me as not a great place

Not really sure what to expect but i need a job bad and they get me home and paid decent. Trying to build some recent experience someplace so i can land a real good job with old dominion or maybe yankin tankers. I am 42 and startin a new career cause my old one dried up.

^^Totally Understood. All we can tell you is what we know or heard. Fell free to pass on any knowledge you gain from checking out these companies. Things change, policies change, contracts change, companies sell so what it expect can be hard to determine.
I just know I hate dealing with Fred Meyer as a driver so working for a company who's major contract is Fred Meyer is out for me. Especially since Market Transport is a CPM company. The stores are nice but take forever to unload their junk pile in the back of the trailer. The Fred Meyer Depots and terminals suck from start to finish and they all seem to hate the outside contractors. So take that for what it is.seansfire Thanks this. -
I used to. Crappy miles and lots of grocery delivers (equals waiting) at FM.

I was talking to sherman bros but the pay stinks and the benefits are insane expensive. 965.00 a month for my wife anf 1 kid and me. Just medical too. Dental and vision are more. The DSV deal is paying 80 percent of benefits and sounds like they pay by the load and activity. The line guys get mileage pay sounds like. I am just really hoping for the best,Toomanybikes and Scooter Jones Thank this.
