Switching trucks

Cascadia does have more steering feel, but would trade that for the smoothness of the 680

 

I believe you're over thinking this! When you first get in it, it will be a little different than what you are used to. But it won't take long to get used to it.
Over your career, you will most likely drive many different trucks. But basically, they are pretty much the same.
Equate it to switching between a compact car to a full size luxury car. No big deal there, right? The principle is the same. Take it easy until you have "made friends" with it.
As for the backing, practice as much as you can. When you hit the truck stop, try and find an area of parking that isn't too crowded. Good place to practice. Find some empty slots that are together, then just keep it between the lines. Then pull out, and do it again. (This just might NOT work real well if the truck stop is busy. OTOH, you might learn some new cuss words if you're blocking traffic.)

 

Its the mirrors on the other truck that mess with your head.

 

The 680 is more like a Cascadia than a 660 or 800. There is now plenty of room between the seats.

Meh, it's all driver preference I guess. I had a 386 for quite a while, 379 for some time and a 579 for a bit. Along with having drove Cascadias, Prostars and VNLs. Other than the terrible seat in the Cascadia and the garbage automatic in the International I preferred the room and the maneuverbility of the plastic over the extra gauges and "cool factor" of the Petes.
Perhaps if I was OO and looking for a long term purchase I'd go the Paccar route but for a company truck give me a Volvo with a Cummins motor and a 13spd.

The fun part was the Cascadia I had being wide open.. sure gets those hoods riled up when one passes them.
