I believe you're over thinking this! When you first get in it, it will be a little different than what you are used to. But it won't take long to get used to it.
Over your career, you will most likely drive many different trucks. But basically, they are pretty much the same.
Equate it to switching between a compact car to a full size luxury car. No big deal there, right? The principle is the same. Take it easy until you have "made friends" with it.
As for the backing, practice as much as you can. When you hit the truck stop, try and find an area of parking that isn't too crowded. Good place to practice. Find some empty slots that are together, then just keep it between the lines. Then pull out, and do it again. (This just might NOT work real well if the truck stop is busy. OTOH, you might learn some new cuss words if you're blocking traffic.)
SingingWolf, fargonaz and Boattlebot Thank this. -
Doesn't sound likethe transition will be to bad. I'm really looking forward to driving this truck. I've ridden in kws before and there super comfy

Its the mirrors on the other truck that mess with your head. -
The 680 is more like a Cascadia than a 660 or 800. There is now plenty of room between the seats.Dave_in_AZ and Boattlebot Thank this.

That's one nice thing about this job. You have plenty of time to think up new ones, and such things as ever more creative ways of using the word "flatulence" in a sentence.
Boattlebot Thanks this. -
Stupid & Moron are often woven into mine.

Meh, it's all driver preference I guess. I had a 386 for quite a while, 379 for some time and a 579 for a bit. Along with having drove Cascadias, Prostars and VNLs. Other than the terrible seat in the Cascadia and the garbage automatic in the International I preferred the room and the maneuverbility of the plastic over the extra gauges and "cool factor" of the Petes.
Perhaps if I was OO and looking for a long term purchase I'd go the Paccar route but for a company truck give me a Volvo with a Cummins motor and a 13spd.
The fun part was the Cascadia I had being wide open.. sure gets those hoods riled up when one passes them. -
I ran into a similar situation with the guy I was riding with for a while. we figured out how a guy could take a leak on the moon and we were Ion our way to figurin out if you took a empty tract trailer and placed it nose down in water, would it bob like a buoy?
