I'd rather do something right than what I want. If doing it the way you say, is the correct way to do it, then that is helpful. I'm trying to understand all the rules and regulations about the logs and the do's and don'ts of them as well.

I always took the time to take my little ruler and mark it as line one. 24 off duty. Location, & remarks, DOT don't care where you are. It's my duty to give the log ladies something to look at. Remove the carbon, & do it again. Send the logs in with your next trip packet.

Old thread but I have to reply . I get written up for this all the time . Just signed another write up and one last week . trying one more time to explain this to the person who does our logs . We need a log expert . bad thing is we have a point system and this is 3 points I think . too many = day off then 3 then fired .

I have been through more log book inspections than I care to admit, and I not only log multiple days off duty on one page, I also log multiple office days "on duty" on one page. No one ever blinked an eye. They are usually impressed just by the fact I log non-driving days.

i use trucklogger on my laptop. it'll log 30 days off on one page. IF i don't log some type of duty change.

otherwise, it'll print total days off up to my next duty day.

this week, it'll log 4 days off duty on one page. it'll print the first date and the last date right below the first date.
there's only one date line to write on. last date goes on the date line and first date prints above.

Why would it not be? There is no regulations on how old the piece of paper it's written on is......

The most important thing to remember is, if a officer ever ask you " is that legal", the answer is always "yes".

I have always logged more then 2 days one 1 page. I have never been questioned about it, including my last scale inspection on Wednesday. However, on the same page I also list every off duty day separately. For example, If I am off duty for 3 days including 1/19/17, 1/20, 1/21 I'll date the sheet as of 1/19/17, draw a 24 hour off duty line, under the line I'll write "off duty from 1/19/17 through 1/21/17" and below that I list
    1/19/17 - off duty
    1/20/17 - off duty
    1/21/17 - off duty
Now they have each day separately specified and that's what they need.
But if they want to find something, they will anyway. For example, some time ago an Arizona cop told me that my signature was not good because it had to be a full name, So it was, I said to him. But he said, it did not look like a signature but a printed first name and last name. I said to him that I did not print it, that it was my style of handwriting and indeed my hand wrote it and therefore by definition it was my signature. The idiot in the uniform still wrote the violation on the DOT report. Go figure!
