    Do you have one?
    Thoughts?
    Opinions?
Perhaps another make or model you prefer?

I'm in the market and looking. I have been looking as well at the Vicovation Vico-Opia2 and KDLINKS X1. Perhaps users of those two devices might have some input as well. Perhaps there is another model or brand the one swears by, let's hear it. Thanks folks.

    Ooops Thanks this.

I've not heard of any of those. I just know cobra's HD cam seems to do the job as advertised, as well as the others regularly found in truck stops.

Thanks for the response STexan. I'm not a huge fan of Cobra's products though. Now my 148 GTL with switches all over was one of the best radios I've ever owned. but that was many plow seasons ago. Another stupid youthful mistake getting rid of that. Anyhow checked out the Cobra cameras; all of them. Not a lot of good reviews on Amazon. In the camera business I don't think Cobra has much to offer. Cobra just isn't what they were in the 70's and 80's in my opinion. No insult intended.
I'm looking as well into the Viofo A119S. Ah... We'll see. I might go through a few before finding "The One". Like with everything else...

I have a blackvue dr650. It seems from this review the two are pretty similar with the thinkware getting the edge. It looks like a good camera.

One thing I learned that both these cameras share is you don't get a suction cup mount. If you want to be able to move it from one vehicle to another or have to replace a windshield it's easier with a suction cup. I use a generic suction cup mount that I modified to hold the camera.

Whatever you choose it will probably come with an sdcard that isn't as large as you want. Before buying a larger card educate yourself on tlc/mlc/slc. You can get a large capacity tlc card cheap but it won't last long with the constant write cycles of a dash cam.

When looking at reviews of different cameras take a good look at the reviews of the apps and desktop software.

Not sure what you're looking for from a dashcam but something else I just found out is that many of them have an overlap in the video segments. So when you piece together adjoining segments in moviemaker or some other software at the end of the first segment you get a replay of the last 1 to 5 seconds of the previous segment.

I just learned of something called registrator viewer that is supposed to remove that overlap automatically but haven't tested that yet.

If you go to about the 3 minute mark of this video you'll see the overlap. Time on the camera goes from 16:37:38 back to 16:37:33

I'd recommend getting one with gps that will show speed and location, which the thinkware you're looking at does.

I'm getting ready to order a new one myself. But not getting a TS Cam.

Registrator Viewer highly recommended any video I save or post on YouTube or anywhere else I use that software.

Drop your whole folder into the software and it can/will play and export as a single file.

    It's free also.

The thing about the Thinkware cameras is that the mount only allows up and down adjustment. If your truck has a split windshield, the camera will be looking off to one side a bit. One pieces should be good. You can place it more centered. I modified a GoPro mount to allow it to be aimed better. I have the X500. It's a good camera.

The latest GoPro cameras have telemetry built in which shows up when reviewing the video on the computer. Thinking about grabbing one because of the info available from it. It even shows the elevation as well. The Hero Session unit does not have this capability.

I may even install my Thinkware in my new truck I'm getting in February. It has the one piece windshield.

Found this on YouTube. Pretty cool!!
