The thing with a permit service is they won't give you the Canada exchange rate. Right now it's 75 cents on the dollar. You can file the Ontario CVR easily yourself and basically pay half price by the time you subtract their fee.
Your pars code is free. You just need to apply online.
One other thing to check is if they have a monthly minimum border crossing number. Some you will pay a certain amount per month even if you don't cross.
The guy I use is a flat $25 per crossing.

    Mattflat362 Thanks this.

OK cleaned it up a little and the info from you all...

I don't know seems a little silly dropping 600 annually just to be able to run it.

I have a feeling it would pay off though...I am in Cleveland with a lot of flatbed freight.... can.jpg

Customs broker doesn't cost the carrier anything. You just need to know which customs broker the exporter or importer is using. The broker or customer you get the load from gives you this information. You get a commercial invoice, it has the buyer and seller information and addresses, commodity, price, tax numbers, etc. You attach a pars going to Canada paps for usa on that page and send to the customs broker. You check online for an entry number or declaration accepted awaiting arrival. You send your customs invoice and bol to whoever you hire to file ace/aci manifests and you wait the 1 or 2 hours can't remember then you may proceed to border with your lead sheet. Lead sheet given by email usually from ace/aci person.

Sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is. One of those things once you get a hang of it you realize it's just another process.

If your engine is 1994 or older you don't need to be governed.
