Oh how I love reserve parking. Problem is, lately, ive been coming in after midnight and finding my spot ive reserved since 5am this morning occupied. The look on the drivers face when the mgr pounds on the door waking sleeping beauty and telling them to move is priceless.

Does your company reimburse you for reserved parking?
-
No, I just claim the deduction at the end of the year.
-
my company will do everything they can not to re-imburse drivers' for costs incurred on the road...so, i'll be best to try to write it off at tax time...
personally, i find that the less i try to park at the big 3, the more often i easily find spots....
i think that the folks who drop their truck and trailer for the night or for weeks should pay for those reserved spots...leave the rest to us.... -
Wow reserved parking not a bad idea for those that don't want to have to park 3 miles away and walk back to the truck stop it must cost a few pennies huh but well worth it i think.

I like the PFJ "Shower Power" deal. You pump so much fuel and you get 2 free showers a day. That should ALSO INCLUDE free reserved parking and FUNCTIONAL Wi-Fi...
I'm lucky in that I run regional and have several decent places to park throughout my area. I have also managed to find several alternative places to purchase fuel other than the big stops. Most of the time I get my fuel for about 20 cents a gallon less than at the big stops.
I used to purchase 95% of my fuel at one of the big places, now it is down to about 10% of the fuel I get from the big stops. Why? Stupidly high fuel prices and "No Love" for having paid a premium price. I mean if your going to charge me 20-40 cents more per gallon than the local stations (that because of my size I can't get into) then at least show me some love in the form of parking and Wi-Fi.
As for the guys that use the lots as a semi-long term free parking while they go home.... TOW THEM..!! I pay a monthly fee to have a reserved spot to park my rig when I'm not on the road. A truck stop is not a go-home parking solution, it is for guys on the road that have no place else to go.dancecanyon Thanks this. -
I once stumbled across a mom & pop just by taking an exit to park on the ramp and seeing it. Many of these independent truck stops would do much more business by advertising that they are in fact truck stops. If you're already having a billboard printed up anyways how hard is it to have them write "TRUCK PARKING" on it.WildTiger1990 and dancecanyon Thank this.

Did local work several days last week at a day rate hauling equipment out of a mine reclamation job to a storage yard a few miles away. Then the last piece they asked if I could take it on to their next job in another state, at a decent per mile rate. Thought I would get a head start by going ahead and leaving after the day work was done and I had time to load it and head on down the road. I only have a Love’s card for over the road work, since nearly all of my work is local. But the first Love’s I got to was full at 5:30 pm, the next one an hour away was full at 6:30 pm, and I’m out of hours. No option but to park at a junky place nearby with boot top deep mud holes in the parking lot, no lights on the whole property, and a nasty diner.
So, when is Love’s going to start having reserved parking? I would gladly pay $12 or $15 for a spot. I can sleep in my truck a few nights now and then if I need to, but I want a shower EVERY DAY, and when I wake up at 2 a.m. to answer nature’s call I want to walk across a well lit parking lot to a clean bathroom. -
They have found a new cash cow (reserved paid parking) At this point it is only a matter of time before, all parking is paid parking. I actually dont' mind paying when the whole lot is paid parking. As a rule between fuel, restaurant, and store. 99% of the time my parking is free.
RESERVED parking is what bothers me. Would not be bad if it was only a few spots. But anymore it' getting to be 25% or more of the lot. $15×7=$133. $133×45=$5985. Call that SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS on average. Some company drivers gets reimbursed. Bank of america and me own my truck. So no reimbursment for me. Sure it can be deducted on april 15th. But every other day of the year, it's just money out your pocket.
