I'm sure posting your version of the rules makes you feel it is. And it may be. My point is you have as much access to Photoshop or manipulation techniques as the rest of us. No I am not accusing you of nothing

Easy there now fellas, we're all in this together....My take is simply this, ELD should be optional, you like 'em, fine, use 'em.....You like a Detroit, and I like a Cummins.....Don't force me to buy a Detroit....What I don't like is the govn't forcing ELD's on us, by law and also as an unfunded mandate, when it doesn't have to be that way...We're already taxed and regulated to death, but yet it just continues with more and more laws and control, always manifested of course as being "for your own good."

O/O's have always been of the independent and freedom loving type, kinda like a lone pine on a mountain top, that's just the way it is and always has been....Now one can spin that any number of ways to portray us as "outlaws" or "cowboys" and such to try and justify more control, more taxes, and more laws and regulation, like in the ELD.....You see, deep down, big gov't fears freedom loving Americans because they're hard to control, but I digress.

One day though, true independent O/O's will all likely be as extinct as the passenger pigeon, and I see that day coming, but until then you mega drivers will just have to be patient with us, but hey, you got your ELD's to play with in the meantime.....

 

Owner ops will be fine. We are and will be using ELDS because they make life simpler and not even noticing it because its just another day...like a phone or a T.V. or gps.....we wont have games to play at coops and breathe hard and make up stories as the DOT man arrives. We will laugh and hand it to him answer question truthfully and run off without problems. All this Self inflicted drama....where do you even get the energy. lol

 

That's how it is on paper, too. Only a fool runs without his book caught up...unless he's not required to have one. Not that hard to draw lines as you go, and a heck of a lot less expensive by the time you pay for a device, subscribe to a service compatible with that device, then you still need a computer or other means of storing the info and the associated software...and don't forget to back up your stuff, either...computer crashes, virus, ransomware, etc...no longer have access to the previous 6 months.

That doesn't even begin to address the security issues. Hackers have already demonstrated the ability to hack into cars using the internet-accessible infotainment systems and gain control over anything running through the ECM...stereo, lights, automatic transmission, and the engine. In the cars with "park assist", they can even gain access to the steering in reverse! So now you're wanting to connect a device that is online up to your truck, creating an entryway for someone to hack in and shut you down (or cause headaches). Say you've got a high-dollar or sensitive load. They don't have to figure out how to get you to stop or follow you until you do. They can shut you down whenever they choose because the device you plugged into your ECM in order to comply with this BS mandate has given them access, and that's all a hacker needs.
