Detention is done thur Macro's on the Zonar, tho most port loads have a "Window" time so like be there between 8-5. Detention would not apply to that load until 2 hours after 5 at the end of the window. Detention was $12 a hour last I was there.

Breakdown is 100$ a day starts after 24 hours of being broke down, same with layover. Alot of that tho is left up to the DM as he has to put thur those requests to upper management to get them approved.

Minimum wage means nothing in trucking, they are exempt. You can make zero for being out a full day and the truck not rollling.

Are they still buying Volvo's or is it all Cascadia's and pro-stars?. I understand from reading elsewhere no APU's but hardwired inverters? I assume they are going to all automatics like so many other mega's.

I also understand they have bonus program safety, productivity, mileage. Are these bonuses actually achievable, or is it all smoke and mirrors? ( sorry you didn't quite makes the miles loads, or MPG this 1/4) I'm figuring around 2300 miles per week Long beach/LA to PHX and back does that sound about right?

I was thinking more in the training realm, where students have filed lawsuits claiming they were paid less than minimum wage while driving in their training phase. I have not read anything that indicates drivers are exempt from FLSA as far as minimum wage. What they ARE exempt from is being paid overtime. If somebody can site the statute stating drivers are exempt from minimum wage I want to read it.

All megas are going auto, Knight was around the 80% mark when I left, Hardwired inverters are factory installed and only come in the newst of the trucks. Refeer side when I left were the only one with built in fridges tho I was told that would also be going to the transportation side later on. No APU's they nix trucks to fast for that to matter. Volvo's, Prostars and the crapcadia are the main rigs. There is a few KW 680's and Pete 579's but I think only like 10 of each throughout the entire company.

The Bonuses can be, but in the current environment kind of hard to hit. Performance is 1cpm for 28500 and 2cpm for 30k in a quarter. Safety bonus is 1cpm and fuel is 1cpm and 2cpm depending on the metric for the truck you have that needs to be achieved. Example: My Prostar was 7.2mpg for 1cpm and 7.6mpg for 2cpm. What the truck says it is getting is know how the calculate it. They calculate the DISPATCHED miles of the trip vs how many gallons you added that trip. You can screw your self easy at the end of the quarter if not careful.

Fuel is #### near impossible without cheating the metrics, if you can get shown the tricks it can be achieved without killing your self. Refeer side has a huge advantage to this as we have flat ways to get around the way they calculate it.

Performance can be hit but with how there 2500 miles for all program is going right now its hard enough to get enough miles to hit the 1cpm maker.

Safety used to be the given one all you had to do was take 2 safety tests and not hit #### to get it. They changed this now it includes. Pretrip, Driver score, Ontime Delivery, Tire failures, Damage / accidents, Truck services (This ones a ##### because if you miss one service by 1 mile you lose your bonus) Tire Air Pressures, On road ready checks and a crap ton of other ######## tied to the cam.

Training pay is a flat 300$ a week, with the right recruiter it can be 400$. Knight plain flat sucks in this department and they always have for as long as I was with them. When I did train I used to pickup my trainee's meals quite often 1. because he ran hard and did a good job for the day 2. Because he got paid crap for the day and I was not going to have him worrying what to do about food, especially if that 300$ had to head home to the fam.

But dont expect that from your trainer, most of them out there I have met are either scum of the earth kind of people (making there trainee take the trainers crap bucket out and empty kind of person) or so broke they were having issues finding food them selves. I really have no love for most of the trainers I have ran across in my time, so please excuse me if I come off bitter toward them.

    Edit.

    As for the law

Here is a older thread that has some good info in it, it might have you might find what your looking for.

Does Knight own their own container and intermodal chassis?

As far as I know the containers are not theirs, but chassis are.

I figured the containers belonged to which ever shipping company they hauled for. It was the chassis and their condition that I was concerned about. I've read plenty of stories about the terrible condition a lot of the chassis at the shipping companies were in. Deplorable ( I like that word) in a lot of cases.

It looks like they keep the tractors in good shape, the dry van trailers, maybe not so much? Or am I just taking into stock too much what I've read on-line?
