Just out of curiosity, has anybody ever tried mounting an antenna on the the front fender mirror arms on the Cascadia? Everytime I talk with a CB Shop tech they tell me something different as to why I can't receive but for a short distance.
Antenna placement...

Yeah there is too much isolation from the body to be effective.
bored silly Thanks this. -
Up high outside the rear fairings would be ideal. More mass below feed point is the goal.
-
You get dofferent storys cause they claim to know but dont..
Problem as ridgeline said is the lack of mass(metal)to go under the ant..Metal on the side or above hurts performance..Mounting on the mirror arm like they tell ya is ok at best but still not very good..
Ground wires to the chassie bs is not a fix either..
Other than ridgelines dipole comment out back just off the flairings is about the best idea from what i understand..Now if you wanna stay on the morror arm and do a dipole that may do the trick for about a 5-8 mi range..
Now if you wanna line the inside of your truck body with some sorta reflective material(metal/metal like tape) that would be cats ###..
Not many workable solutions for these trucks.. -
The dipole would be best if you could elevate it with your extension otherwise you'll be limited to similar range as Neverready because his is close to the ground
-
Putting a big flat plate up there will catch to much wind..Will that plate i had made,is that worth useiing..
Gonna have to go through the threads to find the proper way to install..
Now seeing my ohm meter showed zero ohms on mounting bracket,is that in my favor at all? -
Stick the antenna on at a 45 and call it good. Use the longer shaft but Don't use the extension bracket
-
K.thought you were telling me to go with the tall mount dipole
-
What about the fact that there is no grounding from the mirror bolts??
