Hi guys,
I'm about to buy a truck as an OO, and and looking at a Casacadia 126 with a dd13.
I going to do long haul, from the mid-west to east coast and probably out to west coast too.
Is this engine too small for that or is it fine, just hype?

Everyone pulling 80,000 or less always used a 12.7 Detroit and thought that was fine. The DD13 is a 12.8, so you should be good to go.
This week Volvo axed the D16, all they have now are 11 or 13 litres other than the ISX if you need more.
I pulled 140,000 lbs for two years with a Mercedes MBE4000, a 12.8 litre engine. It worked fine as long as you weren't behind me on a long grade. -
Used with about 500.000 miles, they say it has 450 horsepower, which I see is the max for this engine.

Before you buy it ,ask a readout of ECM.
You need to know how many hours on that engine. -
Thank you, i will, the good thing that it has an apu.

Lets us know when you know more.

Well Im going to check it out tomorrow, they have some low milege cummins prostars, but i would like to stay away from those.
I hoped some more people would chime in, I crawled a lot of hills with my 2005 volvo, would not like to repeat that. -
That thing just now starting to break up. Better have 20k or more saved up

Check the life design of the DD13 vs DD15. I believe the DD15 is designed to go 1.2 million miles or what they say B50. 50% of the engines should go 1.2 million miles. The DD13 has B50 for 1 million
I read Paccar MX has B10 rating 90% of their engines should read 1 million miles
