Well just signed the agreement on a 2013 cxu613.
450,000 miles
M Drive
Mp8 445hp
$42,000
Plan is to daycab it, stretch frame from 221" to 270" roughly. Install 24' van body with small crane, stairs, toolbox and vise on remaining 2' of Frame. Will be used for vocational work lining manholes. Heavy duty Industrial painting. This is my first truck. Very nice shape cosmetically inside and out. How did I do? Didn't really get any wiggle on price, but very nice and patient salesman who's spent at least 12 hours so far teaching me about trucks and answering noob questions.
New to me Pinnacle

Does anyone know what it would take to beef up the front end on this truck? I'm running into weight issues, with only being able to have 34k on the drives here in MN. Need to transfer more weight to the front but with just the van body alone that will almost have the front end at 11,500 lbs. Then I need to put 20,000 pounds inside the van body and thinking that might be too much for the front axle?!

Should have bought the truck for the job honestly. Beefing up front axle is gonna mean replacing it which means being re certified with new weight rating. From the sounds of it you should have bought a vocational trype truck not a road tractor.

There are very very few vocational trucks with tandem axles and the other stuff I need. The only ones I found were literally worn out. Which is why I am trying to build one somewhat newer that will last me 10 years. As opposed to buying one that already has 10 years worth of wear on it.Last edited: Jan 31, 2017

Not sure how involved it is to up fit to heavier axle rating. I would talk with dealers shop or frame shop that you plan to use for stretching it they should be able to help.
Will you be using this off road?
If so I would want a double frame.
Would adding a steerable pusher be an option instead of upgrading steers?Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
My guess is it's more than springs/tires....

Well here is the deal.
First off you need to find another truck. This one would be ok but it would be better to find something spec'ed for the job.
Second by the time you add in the additional costs of a higher capacity axle, and tires, you will also need to make sure it a double frame if you are talking about the weight you are, plenty of vocational trucks out there that will meet this without difficulty finding them.
Also do not buy a truck blind, go through your due diligence to make sure it is actually worth the money. This isn't a pickup truck.Another Canadian driver, KB3MMX and crb Thank this. -
If this is a volvo/mack dealership they should have access to lots of chassis that would do the job....

This will not be used off-road. Adding a steerable pusher is definitely an option, but I guess in my mind it just seemed like that would be more work/headache that just getting everything to work with what I got so to speak.... The salesman did mention that I may have to run a pusher axle, just debating which is the route to go.Another Canadian driver, KB3MMX and crb Thank this.
