My Dot card expires June 27th 2017. How long can i wait to do the physical? Why I'm asking is because i have a bad right eye and waiting to see the eye doctor for a contact or surgery...

I think you can take the physical 30 days before it expires.I have anyway maybe the laws have changed.Hopefully you won't have to wait that long before your eye surgery.

Like cnsper said, it is good until the day it expires.

It really depends on the state you're in and the state that your commercial license was issued. I know some years back when I wasn't driving at the time I let mine go and I had to call to Lansing Michigan the capital here and get mine changed over from intrastate to Interstate who was just means that I could no longer legally drive in any other state aside from Michigan which is where my CDL was issued and then once I went and took the physical I just went back to my secretary state and had a change back over. But you have to call don't just assume that it will roll over on its own do the footwork like I said from state to state so you really need to check would you or DMV

They will 'revoke' your Class A status, but it would just fall back to a regular class C or D.
At least that is how I think it would work.Hoodoo Voodoo Thanks this. -
Exactly I can't quite remember the complete details but it was something along those lines but on my actual license next to where it says restrictions there was the letter k there where it usually says None. But like I said once I updated my physical and went back to Secretary of State with the long form and showed them they change the class back to A with no restrictions

June 27th, 2017, but if you wait that long there is a good chance the state you have your license from will downgrade your license since there is no new medical card. So I would suggest you do it at a minimum 2 weeks before so the slow people that process paperwork at the licensing office can update your file before your current medical expires.
There is no set time frame, if you wanted to take one every month you could, just would get expensive fast. The reason why you hear 30 days a lot is so if you failed one and need to get to your regular doctor or need something from your regular doctor you have time to do that and get physical done again.
Not your entire license, you'll just be downgraded to only being able to drive a 4 wheeler.
Good luck with getting your eye fixed.pattyj Thanks this.
