As long as you don't go over your 70, there is no legal issue from a DOT standpoint. However, your primary employer might not like it, especially if effects your reset and causes HOS problems the next week. You will have to log all your hours, from both jobs, in the same logbook.

 

Aye, but you still have to log the hours with both carriers combined. So you would be hard pressed to find the time to reset. So you work 55 at job 1, have to show 55 hours on duty when starting job 2, when you return to job 1 you have to input the hours from job 2.

It's really a pain imo, and only worthwhile if you're juggling part time jobs.

 

You are required, any time you are operating a CMV, to have the previous seven days with you at all times. That could mean manually entering the hours from the other job on the ELD or carry a paper log of the other job's hours and do the math manually. Sounds like it would be a giant hassle.

 

Wouldn't you just hate to run out of hours on your primary job?

 

Of course you will.There are no special exemptions far as I know.

 

Not completely true. Local drivers who do not go outside the air mile limit do not have to carry previous 7 days.
