Schneider Dollar Tree. Seattle or Portland

I am graduating from Truck Driver Institute on February 3 and I have an offer to with Werner for a Dollar General account. In my research on this website I have discovered so many negative posts about the Dollar General account offers and I personally am staying away from this offer. I have instead decided to go with Prime as they seem to pay out the tuition assistance much faster. I have found it concerning that so many new drivers seem to make the leaps from the mega carrier sometimes as early as 6 months after starting to drive. I really hope my choice to go with Prime versus Werner. I did read somewhere that Werner is on the up and up, but I think current Werner drivers would be better to address that question.

 

One of your neighbors around Lake City did the Werner Dollar General and bailed soon afterward. Werner is probably ok for dry van OTR.

 

Yeah don't hear as much negative about Werner they must be moving up

 

Have a friend that USED to do the Schneider / dollar store thing. He complained the whole time but made pretty decent money.

 

Not really a fan of that sort of manager attitude of if they don't like you they will stretch you thin. Reeks of elitism. Sure his a nice guy but still. Don't have to like people you work with but at least respect them. Won't have productive workers if they are tired.

 

It's not a matter if he likes your personality, but if you are a good worker. If you do your job, and don't need your hand held to do it, then you'll be fine. But if you are constantly late, regularly damage your equipment, piss off the customer and in general make everyone around you have to work harder, then you will be in for a rough ride.

 

Way more money in the food service industry

 

I did Family dollar and it SUX!!!!! If you like pulling into a store that isnt designed to recieve a 53' trailer; and has no dock; and lot isnt big enough to turn around in even when its empy; and sleeping in BFE and not coming onn duty until after you unload the truck in the morning so you can save your hours to get home on sat night when you have to be at your monday delivery 45 min after yur restart go ahead. There is a reason there is a 5k sign on bonus......Nobody will do that stupid #### for a year.

 

Noob here, leave for Schneider School on Sunday and then go on Dollar Tree account. What is a fingerprint account??

 

Driver unload; you put your fingerprints on the freight because you touch all of it while unloading. Fingerprint is actually slang, but also true because you unload the trailer.
