I'm kinda impressed with the SRA198

 

SRA 198 all the way. The 602 sounded distorted when turned up. Not the 198.

 

Amazon has them for about $47 + shipping.

 

Very good mic for Volvo to say that over a sra 198 I think all of would like to put that sl-41 in a match up against each other

 

I'm still waiting if we can hear the what the Palomar sounds like. And compare to the SRA 198. I might end up picking one up.

 

Have you compare it to the Ranger 198 ?

 

New to this site can't help but add to this thread. I've been looking at these mics sounded nice so dropped a dollar and bought one. I've been using older rk56 also ranger sra-198 on a Stryker 447hpc2. So hooked this up had a squeal when mic gain was turned passed 12:00. Called Eric at Palomar he explained the differences in the mics elements sent me a PDF file on how to set mic. He offered to replace the mic which I accepted. Received the new one with a little plastic screw driver tried mic same squeal. So removed the back cover on my original SL41 mic found the adjustment keyed the mic turn screw counter clockwise which I was told squeal still there so thought I'd try just passed original setting clockwise now I'm able to turn mic gain 3/4 open with talk back wide open same as the old rk56 setting. Getting good remarks on radio checks. So all this just to Thank Eric and Palomar for good customer serice and good products. Russ

 

@Palomar , I'm about to order your sl41. But after reading previous post, I'm wondering if I'm going have the same issue. I normally run my Galaxy Pluto with the RFX75 between 12 and 3 o'clock, and even if turn I turn the mic wide open, it will not squeal with my SRA 198, but it would squeal with my original telex 56 wide open. So here's the thing, I'm very interested on the sl41, but having seconds thoughts. Enlighten me please......
