To all drivers who are looking on going to Quality Leasing to lease a truck on at Celadon they will rip you off. First of all they will only let you pick a truck off there stupid list of available trucks so don't go there thinking that your going to get the truck that you want because they are in control of what they want you to have . You will end up getting something that you don't want to sink your money into a lot of there trucks are pretty much beat to #### . I signed on with Celadon thinking it was going to be a good company to work for boy I was big time wrong after I started running for them the paychecks got smaller and smaller until I was receiving no paychecks I even got the miles that they wanted me to get for the month witch was 9000 miles and when payday came it was in there pocket and not mine I had returned the truck at there fontana yard and they charged me 450.00 for returning it to quality companies i only lasted there in fontana the company comes up with ways to deduct more money out of your pay I told my dm that I don't want anymore low paying loads under 1500 payable to the truck then they started to look for higher paying loads and when the found me better loads they would give them to me and an hour later they would just pull them off of me and come up with some lame ######## excuse and I would be right back to the low paying loads I really think Celadon is one greedy Company they just want to bust your ### and keep your hard earned pay . STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY

So a lease didn't work out for the driver?

    SHOCKED!

FWIW, I hope that this scam called lease purchase goes away when people quit signing up to get ripped off - but the only way it's going to happen is to quit signing up for that crap. Everyone work as a company driver and save your own money to purchase your own truck if thats the way you want to go!

They benefit the company only! The company saves SSTax, and health insurance. Also very little maintenance cost to the company.I have a friend who is a labor investigated for the state of Alabama, and he says it is very illegal what these co. are doing and doesn't understand how they get away with it.

I was a lease purchase driver with Celadon and had a similar experience. I ended up spending all my time in the truck and not making jack squat. They claimed they had trailer shortages and I was left sitting with no load, but was still on the hook for my weekly truck payment of around 1000 dollars. Hard to make any money like that. STAY AWAY IF YOU VAULE YOUR WALLET...

I love Celedon lease purchase. I Make money and I enjoy my time in the truck ( Lonestar) black n chrome. I'm always in the positive on my checks. I always put 100wk in an account non fail after a couple of grand. I have my walk away fund in case I need too.I think I have a good thing going for now. I think owner operators at lease smart ones know you have to separate business from personal expenses. Build your LLC using the lease purchase. I show a profit every month and I got my Duns # good paydex and building. Lease purchase can be a failure if you know the company don't pay enough to began with .90 +fsc not going to get it with 1000+ fixed and Fuel/Def cost. I say anybody can drive, buy, lease a truck. But a business is only built when you actually build one.

I am in the same position as most of you. I've been on the full-maintenance lease for almost 4 months now. I have only received 1 paycheck from exceeding weekly expenses. The rest were from deferred lease payments. I have spent a considerable amount of time in the shop, most of which was not accepted for deferred payments.

The trailer shortage is no joke. I've been routed 200 miles for empties multiple times. A lot of the loads are live load/drop, then back to finding another empty trailer.

If I did it again I'd definitely go with a new truck or a used one on a regular lease with an escrow account. Getting repairs approved takes more time than the shop takes to fix the problem. I drive mostly to the northeast and back to get a higher rate per mile, and fuel in South Carolina/Texas/east Indiana where diesel's been in the $2.35 range, as well as drive ~58 to get 7.5 mpg out of the truck. I've still had 11 $0 weeks out of the 16 weeks I've been here. My weekly average profit is less than $350 before taxes and keeps going down. The longest I've went without a check was 4 weeks so far.

I am still with them. I put in an undated resignation notice but am not leaving without another job lined up. I would much prefer modifying my lease or switching to a new truck, but it was ignored when I asked Quality the last time.

Does anybody know of any companies that pay hourly?

You basically don't have a job now. Sounds like your pretty much paying them to move their freight. Its time to bobtail into quality with a ride out of there following you in.
Toss the keys on a desk and roll.
Don't forget to take good photos of inside and out and put that in writing on the Qualcomm that you have.
