No jobs!!!

Who needs prisons when society can kick felons to the curb economically? Making an example out of those who've "messed up" works. I'm not talking about locking them in cages for years or even decades so they can wallow on society's dole. I'm talking about letting them back into society and watch that society put them in sort of a "cage" that's even worse than prison in some ways.

Getting noses turned up at you from those who can give you a chance must suck HARD, especially after society has teased you with tantalizing job offers, boy. Just know that society is not trying to reform YOU or in some way "make you a better person". Society is simply using you as its bi*tch example to convince others that avoiding yesterday's criminal activity today is the best way to go.

I mean what kind of choice is this: "If I commit a crime and get busted, I will be be limited to only really crappy jobs. If I don't commit that crime, I'll retain the freedom to do what I want and work at the job I want." The way to go is obvious. Yeap, making examples of society's "stumblers" works. Computerized databases make this possible, so you're probably limited to crappy companies for now. I wish it were a perfect world, brother.

Definetly DO NOT LIE , be honest upfront with them ,
It all depends on what the felony was for , Most companys will not except child molesters ,drug related cases or DUI violent felonys no matter the length of time . I know plenty of armed robbery and home invasion and burglery felons who have nice jobs now driving for companys because they were honest and upfront from the start and have keep out of trouble for 10+ years.

You gotta realize these companys make millions and millions of dollars and can easily afford to pay a firm to do there backround checks,so being honest is the best thing you could do.People make mistakes all the time in there life especially when there younger, that is why companys have a 5-10 year no felony policy, theres alot of companys who will work with people who are commited to change and keeping a possitive attitude and staying out of trouble is the key to a felons success.

Have you tried looking at all the companys no felony time length policies ?
I do know stevens transport is a 7 year no felony policy and i believe swift and werner are 5 year , so i would try them but be honest.

You might check out Swift. I just talked with a recruiter yesterday and they do have policies for hiring folks with felony raps. DO be upfront and honest in any conversations as it will only come back and bite you in the butt later if you don't. Best of luck!

 

Dont lie that is a major mistake that some companies will put on you DAC. Look harder make lots of phone calls there are companies that will hire you. It may not be what you want but it is better than nothing.

Dude, you've been posting "help! I need a trucking job!" threads for days! What's up with this? People have told you, apply to companies, a lot of companies if you need to. Don't lie and be up front. Get your act together, take your lumps and just get it done.

Said it b4 and will again call swift if really want to drive a truck they hire felons. PS there are about 100 post asking this same question, read some of them you will find your answer.

The problem is that those felonies are not far enough in your past. Experienced drivers have a hard time finding work as drivers, with felonies that often exceed a decade or more in their past.

You're totally untrained, and you have two felony convictions. That's a triple whammy that is hurting your chances of finding a decent job, much less one in the trucking industry.

Because of the two felony convictions, carriers that do business in Canada have no use for you. Canada will not allow you in. You most likely will not clear the background check for a hazardous material endorsement, so that leaves you useless to even more companies.

What can you do? Roll up your sleeves, adopt a pro-active attitude and strategy, while understanding that the odds are against you, and get busy overcoming your past.

This will include you having to speak with several companies, and when you do, present yourself in a light that makes them WANT to look over your past, because you may have demonstrated to them that you are remorseful about you past. Because that's what you've got to do. You've got to convince them that you ARE better than what your record says about you.

According to an article I read just last week in the latest The Trucker issue, there is a man operating as an independent driver recruiter in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma that specializes in helping ex-cons get into the trucking industry. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but I am open minded enough to understand that everyone is different, and it's not right to judge people on the surface. Trucking may be the thing that will turn your life around. He also works with experienced drivers and with several different companies. He stated that 45% of his business is helping ex-cons and those with felonies on their records. 55% of his business, and his mainstay comes from helping place the experienced with clean records.
