Just landed a long haul job. Never trucked professionally before in my life. Please tell me everything will be fine..
What did I just get myself into
Will be doing border crossing. I'm feeling kinda overwhelmed with the coming horizon. Did you guys feel nervous when you started out? Gonna be cabbing with a trainer. Any tips when cabbing with another driver?

You'll be fine. Hopefully your co-driver will be experienced. Just do what he does until you know better. It's your job to know where the back of that trailer is at all times. Pay attention.face9000 Thanks this.

Hopefully everything will be fine. Whether it turns out that way is up to you.
Sharing a truck means 2 people in a small space 24/7. Small space means you need to pack light. How long will you be with a trainer? Will you be home between training and being assigned a truck?
Some trainers are great and some are terrible. The most important things you will likely learn from your time with the trainer will be company specific.
Learn as much as you can about trip planning, securement and the equipment as you can during that time.
The real learning will come once you get out on your own. It can be a bit overwhelming at first. You will screw up. You will screw up again.
When you screw up the way you deal with it will determine if everything will be fine. When you make a mistake you need to keep your head and deal with it calmly instead of rushing and making things worse.
Learn to read signs. Every single road sign is there for a reason.
Never stop learning.
Patience.face9000, Ooops, SingingWolf and 2 others Thank this. -
Common sense goes A LONG in being a driver. That's the best thing you can take with you when you start out
tinytim Thanks this.
