Volvo hinge

    Anybody tried fixing Volvo hood hinge themselves. Fiberglass around the hood is broken and it doesnt close properly. Shop quoted me 650.

    If someone tried, please share your experience. Can it done at home once the hood is off?

    The hood is made out of SMC (Sheet Molded Compound) which is not exactly fiberglass.

    You will need to find the right product (Resin) to repair SMC and you can fix it yourself.

    Try watching YouTube videos on SMC repairs, it will give you some insight.

    on the hood we repair them and we put inside some metal inside the hood area them use fuser it in the tube for a caulking gun ,use a little heat from a heat gun and it drys hard , good luck, 650 is a good price we charge 1000 for both sides
