Not in the context of what was said. He said BOTH parents should have to be citizens for the children to be citizens. Therefore my child shouldn't be considered a US citizen in his world.

Of course I know that's crap. My daughter is actually a US and Canadian citizen by birth. But it scares me that people still have that mindset.

You have no idea how many times I've had similar conversations with people. They will go on and on about immigrants, both legal and illegal, ruining this country. And when I say hey dude, not cool, the response is almost always oh man, you're ok, it's the others I'm worried about.

Why is that? Because I'm white? I don't "look" like the boogie man from the east?

That's the scary part. I see it quite often. I'm ok because I look like them. I'm ok because I'm white. I'm ok because I'm not Islamic. It should make me feel better that people don't have this deep seated hatred for me, even though I'm a part of the problem as they see it. But it doesn't. It makes me feel angry because the ONLY reason they don't feel threatened by me being an immigrant is because I LOOK like they do. And that's just wrong.

We may disagree on this issue, but you have my respect for coming here legally, and doing it the right way. Now, if we were at war with Canada, I would likely have a much different view. But we're not, so it is what it is.

 

The reason is because Canadians and Americans share a similar culture heritage. The problem that I have is not with immigrants (my mother is an immigrant and a naturalized citizen) but with the insistence from the left that we must renounce the culture, values, and principles that made this country what it is. The left has clear agenda to demonize Christian European culture while pushing to replace it with others that are diametrically opposed. They turn ideas like nationalism and Christian values into "hate speech". Without these things, the US would not be what it is today.

I have no problems with other cultures, but I refuse to give up mine to accommodate others'. I suggest you reasearch the term "Cultural Marxism" and "The Frankfurt School" and their teachings. Both Shillary and Michelle Obama are admitted "disciples" of these social theories. The sudden rise "multi-culturism" in the last half -century is no mere twist of fate. These liberal politicians are using identity politics to tear down everything that makes western society what it is.

 

The cultural heritage we share, between the US and Canada, is a mixed culture from everywhere in the world. The original culture of north america was stepped on and destroyed, mostly.

As for christian values.....seriously? I'll stay out of that one. Political debates are bad enough. Getting into religion is a whole other can of worms. Besides, religion and politics aren't supposed to mix. But hey, we only follow those beliefs we agree with right?
