I'm really conflicted on my choice because I generally take jobs with the intention of staying for an extended period (couple years). I live in the Florida panhandle but I just have been trying to make sure that I get the appropriate training and experience so that when future opportunities come up that I can take the leap. I realize that I may be a bit over thinking this decision. I do realize that I need to get to learn the ins and outs of trucking though.

Haha Waggledaddy was "regional" and he must have seen at least 40 states.

Regional out of MS would be pick up a load out of Olive Branch head to PA or upstate NY do a NE regional run and then start back home.
OTR would be same load to the NE from Olive Branch then run countless days running NE regional until your blood pressure goes so high you start to bleed from your eyeballs. Finally you call in and say things you may or may not regret for the next 5 years of your life.
Personally I would choose regionalmilehunter43 Thanks this. -
I am getting set to go to Orientation in Green Bay on the 14th...but when I asked recruiter about layover pay, detention pay and breakdown pay he said he did not have the details but that they did pay. I left him a VM and sent him an email for the details, but the fact that he dod not know when I interviewed with him makes me doubt. I have looked around and seen comments that they actually do not pay and that I will have LONG wait times and I am wondering if anyone has more information on that? Also, they do not have APU's...will that be an issue during hot days and my bonus? I have to idle to run the A/C. I am considering walking away from my CDL...seems like it's not worth it. The company I am with now has no loads and the ones they do have do not pay...

As for the lack of APU, I idle most of the summer and have had no problem making bonus. If you do everything else right, there is enough wiggle room to have low fuel mileage and still meet bonus criteria.IAM KING and Teddy_Salad Thank this. -
