Of all this political crap, i have to respond to this stament about science, in 1500, 98 percent of all scientest said the earth was flat. Science said ddt wasnt harmful, science says eggs are good then bad then good again. This is science, it always changes, science CANNOT say any thing is a fact. they can only show observed fact, they CANNOT tell the why they can only tell the what. This is the scientific method. If climate change is real, yes, science CAN say that, WHY it is real, science CANNOT say this. I hate when people quote science to underline political belief. I dont care what your on.

 

The wealthy Swiss couple that I personally did the repairs of their vacation compound in Florida for 10 years , were just absolutely blown away by the lack of English being understood by immigrants with US citizenship .

The houses were ran as a business so all employees were required to be US citizens by their requests.

The housekeepers and gardeners were great people, but you could not communicate with them.

All you ever heard was Si Si

And than they continue to do what you just explained to them that you would like them to discontinue.

But its tough reasoning to a Swiss who speaks 5 languages fluently.

 

Ok sorry have to respond to this as well, english is no longer the tounge of this great land, if it was i wouldnt hear news casters using slang words thinking everyone can understand them, yes, i understand the need for new words as culture and technology develop, however, this is not what happened. We, as a people, have butchered our language to the point that an 18th century new englander would need an translator just to go shopping for food.

Im not choosing a side here because i imo both side dem and rep have it wrong, but the vibe of this thread is getting really toxic. The attitude on both sides shows how devided the people have become.

 

Wow, really? Where did i say anything about ignoring science? I was pointing out what science is. What it can and cannot do.

 

Perhaps I misread. It's been a long night.

My point is, you follow the science. You can't ignore it, which is what's being proposed. Perhaps not by you, but by our current administration.

You sit down with someone from Europe from the past who has had a gun held to their head to determine their alliance and you may understand my concern.

It Has nothing to do with balls. It has to do with Allegiance and duty as an American.

I have a great group of older friends I have ran with for 25 years.
Some of the most liberal pot smoking hard drinking gambling law breaking ### Hats you could meet.

But during Vietnam 2 of their buddies got drafted , so the other 4 signed up.

They didn't agree with the war but thee understood the reasoning behind it and fought along their friends and brothers because that was the Right thing to do.
