I'm supposed to start soon with another company when I got an email from recruiting saying they want to go to the next level with my application. I really wasn't expecting to hear anything for a couple of months. I also wasn't expecting to be home almost everyday. That sounds too good to be true for this kind of money. Any idea how long it takes to get in a truck in Richmond? I just applied last Friday. I really don't want to start with that other company if I can get with Ashley pretty quick. Thanks for the feedback.

I know full well what you mean lol

They're having some fun with me this week in the frozen north at the mothership over ( I'm sure ) something I said last week and compounded that by complaining directly about a lack of miles since the first of the year.

Miles are going to be through the roof this week but be careful what you wish for my daddy always said lol

PTP is .36 to .38 cents a mile with 15 per drop n hook, and it's $50 for an store unload right??

LTL is day pay for most terminals. $139 with a daycab or $156 with a sleeper a day also $15 a day for picking up an load trailer then $90-$300 depending on how many drops you got

    mxpx148 Thanks this.

It's definitely not the type of operation where you just look at the mileage rate. My base rate on ptp is 38 1/2 but after adding in all the supplementals my all in rate for last year was .497 / mile on 148,480 miles. Didn't miss a weekend home.

The type / length of trips you get certainly are a factor. Shorter trips pay more per mile on this model. The ideal is to get trips you can turn in a day and even better 2 shorter ones you can turn in a day. Those are the money trips.

    hawkjr and mxpx148 Thank this.

So does the driver have any control over his loads as in multiple loads to choose from? Or do you just take whatever comes across the QC?

No choice. Forced dispatch and take what you get. Sometimes you win big and sometimes you just suck it up and do it.

If I had a choice I'd never see Wisconsin and Minnesota in the winter or the northeast ever lol but I do. We all do. We all get our turn and we know it going in.

I'm on one of those weeks now. Left Sunday did NC/SC turned 2 trips and got back to the house then left Monday for the badger and ran Wi / Mn all week and turning the nose south towards the house now and be in before daylight Saturday with well over 3000. It'll be a good week

It's really not that bad though. They do a pretty good job of distributing the work fairly evenly most of the time. All the guys that I know out of several locations on ptp side we all are pretty consistent week to week.
