Does anyone have a lot of experience with the Paccar MX engines. Are they million milers?

    Dominick253 Thanks this.

I'm afraid none are million milers anymore. Maybe the basic components, but everything else is a crapshoot.

They are the only engine with a B10 rating meaning they only expect 10% of the engines built to have a catastrophic failure before a million miles. Detroit, Cummins, Mack, Volvo all have a B50 meaning 50%. The block and heard are formed from compacted graphite iron (CGI). I think it's a great engine, only down fall i see is it's a 12.9 liter. They need a 15 liter.

I've had them for a few years. No major issues, strong engine and if you are a decent driver, not hammered down all the time, pretty fuel efficient too. Only problem in 3 years was a fuel line leak

I have a mx13 and love the engine very reliable and good power for the size of the engine. No leaks and does not use oil. Very easy to maintain yourself. As far as longevity my brother and his wife run team air freight their trk just went passed 1 million with the mx 13. Still doing well and still getting good oil sample results. So yes they are reliable.

I've only had mine for about 5 months and around 50,000 miles but so far its ok. Had a water pump go out (warranty) and the 2012s apparently had issues with the DEF lines so I got mine replaced under warranty when one started leaking. Other than that I like the engine. One thing to note, you will be paying a premium for every part on the engine. Even the oil and fuel filters are PACCAR only. An oil change is going to set you back an extra $50 to 70 or so if you don't do it yourself or at least have the filters bought.

    Jarhed1964 and Dominick253 Thank this.
