Don't you just hate it when people slow to 20 mph in the express highway speed lane?

These same skypilots probably fly through the 5 mph lanes.

MACK E-6, Friday and homeskillet Thank this.

The 5 mph lanes are usually the closest to the booth with a person in it or the building they hide in when not in the booths.

Some exits off the NY thru way have state police sitting in their cars reading the transponder speeds and they absolutely will chase you down if you blow through them too fast.

I wonder what all the laid off, transponder replaced toll booth workers are doing for a living now?

I think the 5s are lanes that toll collectors have to cross to get to there booths. Like the i90 going west before buffalo is all 5mph but the I90 going east leaving buffalo has 2 20mph lanes that aren't crossed by toll collectors.

I will say i prefer Chicago system more though. Road speed limit and if you need a toll get off to pay it.

It seems like the 5mph lanes can still pick up your ez pass if you go thru at a higher speed. I know I went thru one doing 15 mph and light turned green that I was good.
(First month driving and didn't get my truck slowed down enough in time. Lol)

But I'm thinking it might be a width issue like someone mentioned? I'll have to see next time I go thru...if it's too narrow then i can see the 5 mph speed

Now also with my original question I'm referring to (EZ Pass only No tickets booths). If it says EZ Pass or Ticket then yes 5mph is naturally justified...

Im so glad Louisville did theirs all electronic.

I mean....you know those exclusive 4 wheeler riverlink express hov lanes are coming one day.... But still. Commutes are pretty solid going over the river now.
Alot better since the poor ppl go across 2nd st or 15 minutes around.
