Ahh I see i see... That would kinda suck then. As long as it's not a every weekend kind of thing i would be ok with that. I heard something about a 34hr reset mandatory but some companies will give you a full 48 mostly.

A reset being mandatory would be a company policy thing. While the company will usually try to give you the time off you requested they will only do so if it doesn't mess with their plans. In the end most of those big carriers really don't care about the individual driver. All they see is a truck that isn't moving freight and making them money.

I can't personally speak for how TMC is as I've never worked there.

I always loved the garbage Maverick fed their drivers about us not being a number. As such I was never actually issued a "Driver Number" so to say. But the first thing they would ask for when they answered the phone is my truck number. So instead of being a Driver I was clearly nothing more than a piece of equipment to them.

A maverick recruiter is actually coming to my school this week. I was curious as to which is a better choice between them and TMC. Sounds like from your experience I'll steer clear from them as well.

While I won't straight recommend Maverick as a place to work I can say that they did teach me a lot.

Their securement and tarping training were great. They train to secure to a higher standard that DOT requirements.

If for some reason you do ever go to work for them: DO NOT HAUL GLASS. It is not worth the extra few CPM. The wait and loading times are absurd.

As for their upper management personnel they need work. I was fired for something that was beyond my control. The VP that came out and woke me after 2 hours of sleep wasn't happy about my non caring attitude after driving all night. As such he had me fired.

Ahhh now this makes sense.....TMC recruiter that came in told a little story about "beware of companies that will pay you more to haul glass" said you have to wait forever for them to be unloaded. Think he was taking a Jab at maverick without saying the name now that you said this lol. Did you make decent change at maverick?

When I worked there I was making 49CPM. It sounds good compared to other big carriers until you see that getting 2k miles per week was hard. Some weeks were good others were less than unemployment. Overall it was ok. Nothing amazing by any means though.

Yes, your TMC recruiter was for sure poking at Maverick without getting in trouble for mentioning names.

Maverick is going hard into the glass industry. They have bough a few of the smaller glass companies out. I know for sure that I've seen Maverick trucks pulling FAST trailers around.

I know TMC has the option for either Percentage pay or CPM. At least they did when I looked into them 4 years ago. Most of their drivers that I've talked with tend to say the Percentage system pays more in the long run. You'd have to look into that in the TMC forum though to get more info.

I gotcha. That's still true with TMC. They offer either .41cpm or 25 to 34% pay depending on performance. The % pay seems really sketchy to me but seems to be a common thing with flatbed carriers. Makes me think your pay check will fluctuate greatly week by week with that kind of pay option.

Percentage is fairly common in flatbed. No matter how you are paid your check will fluctuate from week to week in any part of the trucking industry.

@Pontimaniac I live about 45 minutes north of you just north east of Sidney and I started with tmc. What you say is mostly true as four many of the locals want experience. I hit them all up only the large mega company's got back with me. Tmc drivers can easily make 1100a well starting out, however you really have to follow their strict guidelines of how to run the truck. Which you'll learn in training, the key with tmc is yes they will get you home every week if you want, but if you want that 1100 a week consistently, then you'll have to stay out 2 weeks at a time in order to maximise your availability
