I know this is a old thread topic but I just wanted to ask. I have a 2005 Freightliner Colombia and it has tank shut off valves. My question is, even if I have the passenger side tank valve closed, will fuel still be able to enter the tank to equalize the level in both tanks?

if the valve is on the draw line, the closed tank will have a higher fuel level than the one that you are drawing fuel from unless there is some other equalizer, this works good when you only want to fill one side

I have a 07 international 8600 and my fuel gauges are reading me over full in a way that the actual needle passes the full line and at the same time the passenger tank is full of fuel and not transferring or equalizing with the driver tank. I have checked for loose conections, electrical wiring and everything seems to be good, does anyone know why this may happened, please any help will be greatly appreciated

I would blow out the vent tubes with compressed air on both tanks. A plugged fuel tank vent will make one tank drain slowly or not at all. Next i would check the return fuel line to see if one side is not returning fuel to one tank. If you have a crossover line between the tanks it could be plugged with sediment. If you have fuel tank cut off valves, one of them could be sucking air into the fuel system, making the tanks drain unevenly.

I've had similar issues, and I've been diagnosing the truck myself with no resolve. I have closed driver tank off while only filling on passenger tank and when the fuel gets to about half full, the truck starts to stall and kills. And when I fill up the tank, it starts with no issue. Is it something in the tank? I have a 1999 International 9400i. Fuel Pump is fine, fuel filter new.....want to fix this issue

i have a 2013 prostar and the right side fuel tank remains full while running...equalizes slowly when idle, is there a crossover pump not functioning ?

Simple solution install a quarter turn valve on the passenger side tank and shut the return off to the passenger side tank youll just have to monitor the fuel level to keep from overfilling the driver. I shut my passenger side tank completely off due to this problem

Same problem with my pete. Gas fills up in one tank, wont return to other tank. Changed lines and cleaned vents. Any other suggestions?
