More than likely CFI thought they were far enough over at the intersection. The blade truck and the CFI truck started to move at the same time. The tip of the blade caught on the CFI as it started to go faster from pulling away. The CFI must have realized first something was up when he applied more power and his truck slowed. Looked in his sideview mirror and "oh fiddle sticks!"
