Clarify something for me. You went to a school, graduated...and then signed on with a carrier and was in the truck with the trainer when that injury forced you out, correct?

You didn't receive the CDL before leaving the school?

I went through the CARRIER SCHOOL, you do 3 weeks of "IN CLASS" then spend 3 weeks on the road with the trainer, THEN you take YOUR CDL test, and finish up your training. They require 15,000 miles with the trainer, so usually do 3 weeks BEFORE you get your CDL then 3 weeks AFTER. The Injury was pre-existing, just Reared it's ugly head while on the truck. My Trainer told me I needed to pack enough stuff to be on the road for 8 weeks, (which was a lie, everyone else from my class took a small duffle bag and was at a terminal to do laundry. I had a LARGE Suitcase that I lived out of, I had to pick up the bag over my head several times a day which caused the re-injury in my back. My left side went numb from pinched nerve and we went for a ride about ended up in a ditch, called the company safety and told him, he told me to have my trainer get me back home and I was done. Didn't ask if I thought I could continue or anything. OUT I WENT

Check into Holland, XPO, Estes, NFI, YRCThose I've recently seen ads for looking for student drivers, they'll hire and train you to get your CDL
Dont mention the back injury if possible

Answer to your Q: In most states you can get your CDL CLASS A for $350 to $500 in a day.

Google: Rental truck for cdl a road test.

That should get you on your way.

    Good luck

This will save you thousands if you know how to drive.

Most have options of automatic or manual.

Many use short trailer and some you dont have to double clutch.

If you take the test with an automatic you will be limited to such.

Companies have rules which are determined by insurance companies. I could not hire you because you have not graduated from a known trucking school. Do to that the 2 year experience requirement kicks in on my policy. So, my advice is to bite the bullet and go back to school.

Just want to caution you that many of the larger companys will want to see that you went to a 160hr driving school course or they won't hire you.

I went thru a semi similar situation where I knew enough to pass the cdl test but ended up going to another 3 week course because it was like the first school i went to never counted.

I think Roehl and Prime pay students although it sounds like you may have already been with Prime. If you don't want to do the whole trainer deal again at Watkins-Shepard you attend class for a few weeks then head out on your own. Not sure if you have to already have your cdl for them.

check CRIAGS LIST some bottom feeders will take a cdl holder with no school.

Ads clearly state: have your cdl a but never went to school? Skip school and we will train you.

    Find the ads, call them.
