    I'm curious if smartphones other than iPhone have problems being out in the cold.

    I wear my iPhone on a belt clip "holster". My phone can have 80% charge, but If I'm out in 5F degree temps for more than about 5-10 minutes (like to fuel a truck or a thorough PTI), I'll look at it and it'll indicate it's about to shut off due to low battery. Warm it up inside the truck for while, and it's back to about where it was.

    Is this just an iPhone phenomena or is this common with other devices, as well? Or is it just mine? It is about 3 years old. (an older 5s) At this rate, it would be less than useless if there were to be some sort of breakdown in very cold temps.

    But there seems to be a point where this does not occur to the extreme as it does at +5f ... maybe 25 degrees I do not notice this "instant kill" phenomena but somewhere between about 25 and 5, there is a point where it pretty much quits working altogether.

    I guess I'll keep the small phone in my jeans pocket and out of the holster next time if this might be an issue.

    Lithium batteries do NOT like extremes i.e. below 30degrees and above 85degrees

    Same reason my chevy volt gets low range in winter. I get 45miles per FULL charge in Spring & Fall....but only get 32miles per FULL charge in Winter (usually 35degrees or less)

    If you want the charge to sustain, keep the phone deep in your inner pocket (closer to the body)

    @sealevel ... this is why

    Coz of all the $$$ this lil chevy has saved me.

    Driven 13,333 miles, burnt 277gals @ $2.50/gal = $692 or 0.05cents/mile.

    How u like them apples?

    My personal vehicle is a Dodge ram with a hemi and it tickles me in places I won't mention everytime I start it up. 14 mpg. How do you like them apples. To each their own. By the way, that dash could be the most silly looking thing I have ever seen. Lol. Just stop. This is embarrassing. Lol
