Hi, i just recently graduated from trucking school in southern virginia. I have pre hires from both tmc and mcelroy.. im seriously stressing over what i have been reading about these 2 companys. Im 6 ft tall 260lb.. im basically worried about being sent home for failing a physical or sleep apnea test.. i cannot afford not to work.. i did get a 2 year physical from my local docter.. has anyone gone through something simular? Which company in your experience judges less in physical appearance? And more get it done attributes?

By the way, i know im a big guy but, i do feel plenty capable of doing any of the physical demands with flatbedding.. getting on top load lifting tarp, croaching.. etc

Why are you so worried if you already passed and got a 2 year card from your doctor? Pick the one you like best and give it a try. Never worked for either company so this is just opinion from outside but I think I'd definitely go tmc. Pretty nice trucks variety of freight types etc. seems like a decent starter company but I really have no experience with them. Just give it a shot I highly doubt if you can get a 2 year card on your own that either will send you home. But I could be wrong.

I went to TMC in 2012 and was overweight also about the same as you. They will still hire you if you can still do the physical stuff . It's all pretty simple hop up onto trailer from the ground ( about chest high) stand on one foot for 30 sec get on top of 13' trailer and stand with toes at edge. Most important thing during orientation is follow directions be honest and don't act like a jerk o$$. They just don't want some huge fat liability representing the company.

Yeah put two hands on the trailer and hop up on it. The guys that can't make it will be told to use the rear bumper I guess to avoid further embarrassment but all of them got sent home

If it's something you wanna do I say go for it you already did the school. Set a orientation date with tmc hit the road and don't look back. You might just enjoy it!
