Had a 1 year card and got sent home from TMC. I'm 5'7" 210. I fit the profile for sleep apnea (turns out I have a moderate case). I had no issues performing the tarp test etc. I may look round and soft, but I can carry a fridge 3 flights, on my back, been there done that. I think TMC has a deal with their local CME that they use (they only use one shop) that they put pressure on to make the rules very tight. Now I'm not saying wrong, but tight. Anyone will tell you TMC is very strict. When it comes to walking on the grass to keeping the trucks clean. That strictness follows in their medical exams.

TMC makes you do their physical, no matter what. Well, not theirs, but at a local CME shop. But they have influence, I've no doubt.

That all being said, I'm still holding out to go back to TMC.

    Preach.

I went in with a plan. Had one months worth of bills covered and in the bank. Got sent home. Now I'm at risk of losing my apartment, my car, everything basically. I was sent home on December 5 2016.

See when you quit your job for another job, and get sent home to have medical testing, you no longer have medical benefits. Then unemployment decides to get in on the gag and deny you benefits because you quit a perfectly good job. No matter that you've been paying into the system for 10 years. SO you apply for any assistance you can get, since it's only temporary right? Good luck in Maryland if you don't have a kid living with you full time. Denied outright. Seems they don't much care if you're homeless as long as you don't bring a kid with you. Apply for help with the electric bill? Same. No kid, no help. (I have 50/50 custody, not good enough) So I've been turned down unemployment benefits, welfare ( I hate to say I applied but I had little choice), and any assistance with my bills.

Right now I'm waiting on the results of my unemployment appeal. That's my last chance. I'm a month behind on my bills, soon to be two, and one month behind on rent. If this appeal fails I'll be selling what I can, packing what I need and heading back home to live with a relative (I'm Canadian, in US as permanent resident, no family here) and holding out til I hit my 90 days with CPAP and hope to get back in with TMC. I'll still be homeless but hey, a truck is a home right?

Sorry for the rant. Just want to give you a "watch your ### story". I was prepared. Or I thought I was. When you think you are covered, double it, before you take the plunge.

And as I said, I don't blame TMC. They have their rules, and I appreciate that. So much that I STILL want to work for them even after all this.

I was sent home Tuesday December 6. They told me on Monday December 5th that I didn't pass their physical but there were no buses running at night so I left Tuesday morning. They send you for physical day one. Another guy was sent home the following morning because he couldn't complete the tarp test. They let him try again second morning, but he failed, got a bus ticket.

Depending where you need to go, I wasn't home til Wednesday December 7th, late morning (would have been worse but I found a stop along the way and had a buddy pick me up). Buses are slow. But there's half a week gone.

I hate to say something like this but......if you have a week available, don't tell your current company you're leaving. Take vacation, go to training, if you're not sent home within that first week you will at least have passed physical, drug test and most other physical tests. After that it's about the driving and learning. You should be good. Unless you're an idiot. Not saying you are but....some people. If you do get sent home that first week you go back to your old job as if nothing happened. If you make it, you give no notice and bail.

This isn't something I'd normally recommend. I'm big on giving 2 weeks notice and not burning bridges. But after what I've been through, as I said before, cover yourself, then cover it again.
