The truth is that it's better than it seems. I worked for TMC for one year. (left for medical reasons and took my old job back) I miss it and them. Shorter hauls pay more on % than cpm. Some longer hauls pay more on cpm than %. My average length of haul was 550 miles. Some times more sometimes less. As far as weekend time, well.... Usually got home late Friday and left Sunday night. The percentage rate depends on your performance. I averaged 29%. It has a lot to do with how you there system. I'm an old hand with 30 + yrs of driving. Not much for learning new ways. If you're just starting out you may do better. Top shelf equipment and the management was easy to deal with. They have there ways and they work. Just give it a chance. I'd go back if I could.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I've made my decision and going to give them a try and see at Least. Only things i wish they did was the minimum pay weekly guarantee. The recruiter said they can only do a 1000$ for my first 2 weeks and that's it. Can you ever choose to change up the pay option between %pay vs cpm or is that a one time deal?
-
Yeah they let you change your pay type at set points per year.Pontimaniac Thanks this.

Living in Ohio you are in the "steel belt" I would definitely learn flat bed. It will make it much easier to find a local job. I drove for TMC and was home every weekend living on the east coast. You will have no problem getting home in Dayton if you manage your time and start the week correctly. I would also suggest volunteering to stay out some weekends and your gross could get up closer to 2k if you let them know first thing Monday a good FM will put you on the best loads if they don't have to get you home by Friday good luck to you. If you are young and single it's time to work and bank money. Your hobbies will always be there.

Thanks for the heads up. I was going to start at TMC this weekend but failed my state test yesterday.....have to wait 2 weeks to retake it now so hopefully i start on the 27th now. Being out on the road constantly isn't for me at all. To me personally I'd rather take a small pay cut if it leads to me living a happy life vs making big bucks but hating every single day of it ya know. I can deal with a couple missing weekends here and there maybe but overall would like to check up on my house every week If possible.

TMC is a company that each driver earns what he puts into it. Ohio is a great spot for loads and your hometime each weekend is something TMC expects for its drivers. You can make $1200 a week after taxes and go home for the weekend. This is my first job in the industry and I absolutely have no regrets about my decision.

I worked for TMC 10 years ago and loved it. Meet you weekly/monthly points and get the % increase.

Thanks. This gives me a big peace of mind about deciding with them as my first company. Hopefully i pass my state test and head up to the terminal this Sunday. Didn't know if i should go to the one in Iowa or South Carolina though.
