Albert Lea, MN at the Petro.
I have a nice 2200 mile load from Montana to Virginia. Grain for a bread place.
This is the first time in about 2 months that I have gone a bit east. It has been north west bouncing for far too long.
I was beginning to wonder if I was being punished for something, or if someone had entered that I preferred to run north west only.
And it seems that Swift is determined to make me fuel at the Love's here in Albert Lea. Every time I am near here, and never the Petro across the street.
And that Love's is always 2 or 3 deep in line, making me wait.
This was my actual stopping point (as in distance) for today, which was good. But I came to the Petro because parking is better.
I'm hoping that fueling at 0600 will be better than at 1600 when I got here. It was, once again, backed up.
This is also the first time in several days that I have had a decent internet connection.
T-Mobile doesn't cover MT, SD or WY, so it is roaming. The speed is so slow that I just turn it off.
On the bright side, I think I will be out of the way of the snow storms the whole way.
Good Night From II

Heck your right below me. Im in owatonna still getting loaded. They custom build the frames as they load the glass. Been napping here at Viracon. 30 miles north.
Your at my favorite Petro. Which is mostly cause I'm a sucker for the decor and the rotisserie.
I'll probably end up securing this stuff and getting a bit more sleep. I have no intention in leaving till the morning. Got 5 days to make it 1800 miles "that'll be tough" admittedly it's so I'll take a running 34. Hopefully I can take it somewhere worth taking it. -
Our Swift forum seems to be getting a bit thin these days. It seems you and me are keeping it alive.
You must be much younger than I am. I could not possibly keep up with what you deal with.FerrissWheel Thanks this. -
I'm at a Pilot on I-74 in IL about 730 miles from my delivery Sunday morning in VA. A pretty uneventful day, but windy.
I'll be stopping at Beckley Travel Plaza in WV tomorrow night.
Anyone gonna be there?FerrissWheel Thanks this. -
Almost 30, but I'm not exactly shure to which you refer.
Well, I am if nothing but an internet addicted malcontent. Been on it since the 90s when it provided an anonymous airing of thoughts. Shame that those types of communities are not as popular with the current generation. (In other words I'll be around a long time.)
And frankly this is one of few places I've ran into a collection of drivers that I don't have a strong urge to whack with a tire beater.
I'm at Petro In York NE. Got 1 hour left on 70. Good a place to reset as any. Ugly tarping job for an ugly load (but it did stay put.). Took 8.5 hours total to load the glass and nail it to the bed.
Now I have unlimited data, time to catch up on YouTube. Why I didn't before I'll never know. -

And I have the chains to complete the scene.
I'll start by slapping with the soft end of the strap then I'll double it up. And for the true masochists out there they get the hook.
I'll leave it at that. I could go overboard real quick. -
I'm 61.
I refer to the tarping and chaining and strapping and all the stuff that goes with flatbed.
At 30 I could have done it. Not now.
Maybe, when you are my age and still doing it, you will still be able to. -

Well, even I had to acclimate to it (odd movements.) I'd say the most important factor might be if your injury prone or not.
My grandfather still does stuff like it on the farm, and he still drives locally during the week. And he's hitting 72 this year. Probably where I got it from. I was always helping out.
But I know there have been a few that took it up later in life. Just may take one heck of a breaking in period.
I hope by the time I'm your age I've figured out how to work less though. Though I would love to keep my physical resilliance as long as possible. -
Just south of Baltimore at the TA., shut down due to high winds.
55-60 gusts all the way up into NJ, which is where I'm headed. I hadn't planned to stop here because they charge for parking, but it was getting pretty bad. Just 2 miles from here I was nearly blown over with my 17k load.
So I used points to pay for a DVD and a few other things.
My DM told me I have until 1900 tomorrow to deliver this load, so no worries about being late.
He said don't take chances with the wind, and did you see that video of the trailer that crushed the cop car?
Yup, I did. It was posted on this forum yesterday, and it is incredible that the officer was not in the vehicle at the time. I imagine he could have been watching the whole thing from the car that was filming it. He must have had a moment of reflection just about then.
There, but for the Grace of God...
I was talking in the store to one young guy that seemed to think 55-60 mph gusts were OK to drive in with an empty trailer.
His thinking is all better now, especially after I told him of the restriction on the bridge just up ahead - no empty trailers allowed.Last edited: Feb 13, 2017
FerrissWheel Thanks this.
