Hi all. Been researching quite a while now and have been narrowing down the list of companies. Millis is high on the list. Does anyone know during training if you work as a team with the trainer or is the trainer in the jump seat while you are driving?

Slingblade, I appreciate the PM, I cant reply but I had family who worked for TA for a bit and was out in January with them

dragginmyfeet when you are training your trainer is suppose to be in the jump seat because when you fist start training you will only have your permit. after a couple of weeks you will make a appointment to go take the road test and pre trip test to get your full license and your trainer will take you to take the test.

Thanks. I appreciate the reply and the info. Its been about 2 years of hard research and this is where Im aimed at right now. All the info you all supply is a big help. Still need more info on Millis but right now its the best fit for me. Thanks again

Millis is a very good choice for you. Quit dragging your feet and call them. They can tell you most of what you need to know. If they tell you to come in just relax and go for it. This is not brain surgery. Millis has a good rep. I have talked to a couple of their drivers in FTW and they both liked the place. Plus the pay is a whole lot better than some of the other training co's. You need to go ahead and get behind the wheel and see if this is what you really want to do. Good luck.

Thanks BigDuke. The feet dragging is just about done. Saving some final cash so I can focus on training and nothing else when I get there. I read about all the unexpected things when new drivers are getting to the company and I know you cant plan for everything. But I want everything else ready for when I get my own truck. 500 for training food, cb, bills paid ahead, laptop the whole nine. Im almost there. I figure about dec through feb. I will be ready. I dont wanna be one of the 160%. So the easier I make it on myself the better I will fair I hope. I was out over the road with a family member in January for a week. 3500miles that week too so it was good learning as to how it can be. when its busy anyway haha. This website has certainly saved me from what I thought about trucking to what trucking really is.

Well I think come monday Im just gonna go ahead and make the call. I have enough away. They pay well enough in training. As long as they hire me should be good to go. Still got lots of questions but I guess thats what they are for.

I am sure you will like it , my hubby has been with them for years and took a break to be home with me for a few years but it was always with him . I had told him if you want to go ya just need to let me know . It came one nite ..lol .. I waited almost 5 years for the boots to drop. He is really happy driving, and loves it when he comes home. I always told him though he didn't believe me ... its in the blood. once a otr driver ... always a otr driver. and ya can't beat the pay. if you want to run ,you got it , if you want to be a slacker .. you won't last long.
Good Luck with your training and everything.
